Story:
Raj Kumar Santoshi films have been special. His 'Family' is yet another film which tells us the story of two different families that maintains different family values. How did these families collides with each other due to certain reasons is its theme.
'Family' is the story of families of Viren Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan)- a dreaded don and Shekhar Bhatia (Akshay Kumar) that are totally different from each other. Viren operates from Bangkok. His family, comprising his wife (Shernaz Patel), son (Sushanth Singh), daughter-in-law, daughter and a grandson, live in Mumbai. This seperation is because of Viren's wife not agreeing with his despicable activities.
The other family is of Shekhar, who lives with his parents (Anjan Srivastava, Bharati Achrekar), wife (Bhumika Chawla) and brother (Aryeman). They are a typical middle class family. Shekhar is a chef by profession, his wife is a doctor, while the younger brother has tried his hand at various jobs, including running a cyber café. Here the story takes the turn when Viren kills Shekhar. Unable to bear the loss, his brother Aryeman kidnaps Viren's family members with the help of his friends. He is in thirst of Viren's blood. This results the great collision between the two families. How did they faced each other forms rest of the story.
Performance:
Amitabh Bachchan is just up to the mark in his appearance as a don. Though Akshay Kumar has little to play, he justifies his role. Aryeman, the debutant needs to improve little more. It is too early for him to come in face to face with an experienced actor like Amitabh Bachchan. Bhumika Chawla suits for her role. Her conversation with Amitabh in the hospital is remarkable. All the others performed adequately. The movie comprises only few sequences that makes viewers watch interested. The music is just adequate. Raj Kumar Santoshi's direction and Screenplay are ok.
