Mehbooba

'Mehbooba' is directed by Afzal Khan. The director who has rejuvenated a long lost tale has done a commendable effort in bringing to an end but then despite the good presentation, the narration was lengthy. The director Main intention was to entertain the audiance by this movie.

A beaten to death tale, the story begins on the backdrop of New York with Shravan (Sanjay Dutt) who is cool, rich, charming and has it all in him to make any woman fall for him. True to his nature, he is a big womanizer and does not stop at anything to have a one night stand with them. His success stories continue until the entrance of Varsha (Manisha Koirala) who turns him down. Unable to accept it, Shravan is determined to get her and his ways and means don't impress Varsha in any way. However, after a lot of persuasion and apologies, Shravan says that he wants to marry Varsha and he has changed.

Varsha is still not convinced but her father (Kader Khan) is, so he manages to give his piece of mind to her and finally she feels for Shravan. They get engaged and there starts their romantic journey. In no time, things go intense and one day Shravan ends up making love with Varsha. As soon as he gets what he wants, he drops the bomb that his love story was just an act and he just wanted to get his way with her. This destroys Varsha and she is hurt badly, her woes increase when her father dies of heart failure unable to take the shock. She decides to move out of that place and shifts from New York, Varsha starts a new life in Budapest with a new identity. As luck would have it, enters Karan (Ajay Devgan) who is the younger brother of Shravan and he falls madly in love with Payal and decides to marry her. Payal is none other than Varsha and What happens in the end hereafter is to be seen on the screen.

Presentation: The script was alright but the dialogues were old. Music was authentic and had a grand touch while the camerawork did a mesmerizing job, editing was weak and the subject was so old and well known that no novelty can be expected. Sanjay and Ajay have come out with clean performances since they have done such stints before and it was good to see a young Sanju Baba on screen. Manisha was a stunner and one really wonders where all that magical charm of hers is gone, she was good with her performance too. Kader Khan gave his presence with his typical performance. The others were okay.

Verdict:Good
